Introducing the YCNS Staff

Maribeth Fay – Director and Toddler Teacher

Maribeth Fay

Maribeth has been the Director at YCNS since 2005. She is very hands-on and has an open door policy, always welcoming feedback and suggestions on how to improve the YCNS environment. Maribeth's love for the school both as an alumni parent and now director truly shows in her dedication to the school.

As a teacher, Maribeth is warm and fun and encourages language development through play with the toddler class. She provides the perfect environment to introduce two-year-olds to the routine of a classroom, where they feel safe and comfortable. She introduces the children to projects that are both creative and academically based all the while encouraging the children's senses and fine motor skills. She will admit she does not mind making messes, which is a great asset in a class of two year olds!

Maribeth and her husband Michael live and raised their four boys in the Yorktown community.

Amy Perl – Assistant Teacher Toddler Class

Maria Hughes

“Miss Amy” began as assistant teacher in the Toddler class in 2015. Amy is kind, warm and loving in her interactions with the children. Under her gentle guidance and support, the children develop social and communication skills essential at this young age. Her soft, sweet manner helps the children feel welcome, safe and comfortable in their first school experience. She and Miss Maribeth know that children’s work at this age is in the form of play and they strive to create an inspiring atmosphere where the children can explore and have fun!

Amy lives in Yorktown with her husband Chris and two daughters.

Mary Frabotta - Senior Teacher

Maria Hughes

“Miss Mary” has been a teacher at YCNS since 2005 and is not only a great teacher but also an artist!  She has been praised in recent years by parents of children with special needs for making a huge positive impact on how their children were able to grow in a school setting.  She is able to manage the classroom in a way that no one feels singled out yet limits are set to teach necessary routines.  She makes managing a class of active four and five year olds look easy in such an active environment.  She goes above and beyond in learning each child’s unique personality so she can best work with him or her as an individual.

Her artistic side really comes through in how she teaches the children through a great balance of guidance and freedom.  Lessons have included studies of Eric Carle, dioramas of Native American villages and the Antarctica, all projects that shine at the annual YCNS Art Festival.

Mary lives in the Yorktown community and is the mother of three children.

Allison Kaufman - Junior Teacher

"Miss Allison" began teaching in the Junior Class in 2016.  She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art at Binghamton University and obtained a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education from Long Island University.  Allison is fun, creative and loves making her classroom a warm environment for the children.  Before joining YCNS, Allison taught 2nd Grade in the New York City School District and Kindergarten and 1st Grade in the Katonah-Lewisboro School District.  In addition to teaching, Allison owns a small Etsy business making personalized party favors and gifts and spends each summer working at her childhood day camp in Rockland County where she creates and implements the Art Program for children ages 3-15.
